296. Teaching Our Kids How to Think About Their Thoughts
In this episode of Nourished Connections, I’m talking about one of the most important skills we can help our kids develop: learning how to think about their thoughts.
As our children get older, we cannot protect them from every disappointment, awkward moment, mistake, rejection, or hard season. But we can teach them how to recognize the stories they are telling themselves, question unhelpful thoughts, build real confidence, and become more resilient when life does not go the way they hoped.
I’m sharing practical ways parents can help kids separate facts from assumptions, stop turning mistakes into identity, handle comparison, and become better problem-solvers instead of feeling powerless when something goes wrong.
This episode is especially for parents of older kids and teens who want to give their children tools they can carry into adulthood.
I’m also sharing more about my Mindset for Kids program for ages 11+. We begin October 5 at 4:30 p.m. Arizona time, and registration closes October 1.
