While deaths from colorectal cancer have significantly decreased with the use of colonoscopies, early detection is essential. Statistics from the American Cancer Society place the relative survival rate for people with stage 1 colon cancer at around 92%. That’s why having a first colonoscopy at age 50 is routinely recommended.
